On the radio tip, Grand-Mixer GMS gets made props for his slammin' remixes on KZZU as well as the Master-Mixes on KAGU. For those that don't know, GMS is Spokane's original Master-Mixer. Dating back to 1986, he was the first DJ to mix for commercial radio on POWER 104. Now the boy is ripping [@$!#] up on KAGU's Rap Show which has moved to Sundays from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Damn! I'm still recuperating from two of the phattest shows Central Washington has seen in a while. Both were in Yakima, WA one week apart from each other. First, it was Too $hort, Funk Daddy, Kid Sensation and the Funky Aztecs sponsored by Jeff Bess Promotions at the Yakima Speedway. Yours truly rocked turntables with Funk Daddy until the sound was right and the artists were ready to perform. Funky Aztecs opened unannounced and came a little too hard [at first] so it took a while for people to get into them. Second on stage was Funk Daddy accompanied by Jay Skee and Dee Lyrious who all blew shit  up. Kid Sensation had a well-improved stage show, even doing his classic Back 2 Boom. Too $hort was worth seeing but was kind of a disappointment because he only performed for about 20 minutes (I guess you could say his show was "too short"). We even experienced a special dance performance from Terrible T of Oaktown's 357.

Next was the 3rd Annual Lowrider Super Show weekend. Hosted at Colors Nightclub, it was the exclusive invite-only private party featuring a surprise [private dancer] (ask Joe Cooley for details). When that was over, doors opened to the public and the house became packed as me, Funk Daddy and Joe Cooley cut it up-in-the-mix, all night long. On Sunday, the Lowrider Show was on! Cars, trucks and bicycles from all over flossed at the Yakima Fairgrounds for an event that seems to get better every year (NO VIOLENCE EITHER!). Nite Kap emceed the hydraulics and hop contests, but I was busy DJing the whole event so I'm not sure who won. The bikini contest of course was the bomb, especially since the [dancer] from the club who was doing splits on stage won 1st place. Opening the concert were the Funky Aztecs, but this time they came off better due 2 the proper introduction by their road manager Maharaji. On the faster dance tip, Vick Zendez came with a very hype show. Following was the Bay Area's Black Dynasty who blew shit up. Funk Daddy had the crowd hyped especially with his own slower version of Planet Rock. Breaking up the monotony of having just guys performing was RedBone.

Last but not least was Rodney O and Joe Cooley. They did a grip of cuts from back in the day, as well as their latest songs and Joe showed why he's still one of the baddest DJ's around. Big ups to Jeff Bess, Jose and the whole staff at Colors Nightclub, and Joel and Alex from Dollars and Sense Productions for putting together the dopest event of the year! On the retail tip, Scoe from Common Criminals released his solo tape titled Take a Hit which is in stores in the Spokane area. I finallly put my own mix tape in DJ's Sound City and they sold out with the quickness!

After all these years 93 ZOO FM has finally added a weekend mix show on Saturday nights from 8PM to midnight. My only question is, why syndicate it from Arizona when they could have a local DJ mix it even better?!
